Our Story

Shaped by lived experience and a shared belief in the body's capacity to heal.

Healing Parts Therapy was founded not just by clinical training, but by life — a shared assignment in Alaska that deepened our understanding of resilience, the nervous system, and what safety and trust really mean.

Origins

Where this work began

Our professional journey started during an assignment in Alaska, where we discovered a shared enthusiasm for exploration — both external and internal. While the landscape offered striking beauty, its unpredictability — isolation, harsh conditions, extended darkness — deepened our understanding of resilience, nervous system adaptation, and the significance of safety and trust.

Those early experiences reinforced something we now see clearly in our practice: people adapt remarkably to challenging environments, and those adaptations emerge logically from context. That understanding shapes everything about how we work.

People adapt remarkably to challenging environments. Those adaptations make sense — and therapy helps explore them with curiosity and respect.

What Guides Us

The principles behind our work

Emotional safety first

Healing requires sufficient safety for clients to slow down, examine their internal experience, and communicate authentically — without judgment or pressure.

A non-pathologizing view of symptoms

We perceive symptoms as adaptive responses rather than evidence of dysfunction. Each response developed purposefully, and therapy explores those purposes with curiosity and respect.

Pacing that honors the nervous system

We avoid rushing insight, emotional exposure, or trauma processing. Therapy progresses at a pace that supports regulation, stability, and sustained change.

Collaboration and consent

Clients participate actively in therapy. Healing proves most effective through collaborative, transparent, consent-based approaches where you remain in the driver’s seat.

Depth without overwhelm

Meaningful, transformative work can proceed without pressure to relive trauma or accelerate beyond what feels safe. Healing integrates profundity and gentleness.
