You're Not Broken — Your System Adapted to Survive
These patterns often emerge as protective responses to overwhelming experiences:
- Numbness or emotional disconnection
- Anxiety, panic, or a constant feeling of being "on edge"
- Irritability, anger, or quick emotional shutdown
- Overachievement or perfectionism
- Avoidance, procrastination, or dissociation
- People-pleasing or difficulty saying no
- Trouble trusting, relaxing, or feeling close to others
IFS-Informed Trauma Therapy
At Healing Parts Therapy, we use an Internal Family Systems (IFS) framework to approach trauma with curiosity rather than force. Rather than requiring you to relive painful memories in detail, we work to help you understand the protective parts of your system that learned to survive — and create new internal experiences of safety, trust, and care.
Sessions are paced to your nervous system and readiness. We never push for emotional exposure before you feel safe, and we move at a rhythm that supports sustained healing rather than temporary relief.
Structured Trauma Processing with EMDR
For clients who prefer a more structured approach to trauma processing, we also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) — a research-supported method that uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain process and release distressing memories. EMDR can often be combined with IFS work for deeper, more integrated healing.
What trauma therapy can help you achieve
- Build a sense of internal safety and grounded stability
- Understand the protective purpose behind your responses
- Connect with vulnerable parts that carry pain or shame
